Maths Reflection

This week I have been practicing to solve out strategies using Tidy Numbers.

For Example:

27 + = 100

You add the 7 to make 10 which is 3 and you add the 2 to a make a 9 which is 6 (because carried the 1 from the 10 that you made), which will equal 63

Talent Quest

It was a normal Friday, but a big celebration for St Pius X School. Today was the Feast day of St Pius, the Patron Saint of our school and our Parish.

The day started off with a mass which flowed beautifully. Our day was heading towards our middle block, which was to see the Talents in our school which we called the Talent Quest. All the groups have amazing talents.

It started off with Lavinia and Robertanna, “ WHATS UP ST PIUS!” they said with great enthusiasm. Room 4 were already on stage, “ Give it up for Room 4!” They sang a lovely song that one of the students relatives taught them. It went on with all the fantastic talents of the school. Then...... Finally the moment I had been waiting for, I had seen bits of the performance, it is great to announce, Angelica’s group!!!! Move your Body....

The music came booming from the radio. I felt like a sleeping giant awakened by a raging storm. What a dramatic entrance! A huge applaud was heard after their performance, that was my favourite part.

I was told to go up to stage and sing the final performance, with all the rest of my fellow classmates. If you knew me well, I am not good at been in the spotlight, even if I’m with other people. As I walked nervously up towards the front of the stage. We all sang the song with grace and applauded all the performances for they were so brave to come up and perform in front of the whole school.

I walked out with such happiness to know that St Pius X School still have many talents roaming around the school.

My Swimming Progress

I feel good about my swimming progress. It is great that I have been getting better in my swimming and I have been building confidence in myself. I’ve been trying really hard to please myself but its getting to the point where I pushed myself to hard and I go to the extreme and end up bumping my head on the stairs! ( Owww!) Anyways, I’ve been going well especially in my breathing under water. I think I have done well.

Netbooks Poem

Net books are great
we use it everyday,
They are good for our learning
they’re not there for our play.
Researches, documents and presentations
They stretch our mind and Imagination.
Games are for our downtime and.......
BANG!! there a perfect Rhyme!

I am a good Team-player.

I think I am a good team player because:

* I can co-operate well with people that I am not comfortable with.
* I can see if someone is upset in my team and I will go and cheer them up.
* I can do things when I am told to do it.
* I try my best in everything I do.
* I am open to new things.

Issue- There are rough games that have been played in the Tennis Court.

Students are been pushed over because of the rough games that have been played in the Netball Courts. I am determined to put a stop to this and support the students that are playing Netball and are regularly pushed and taken all there concentration off there game.
In my opinion rough games should not be aloud to be played in the Netball court.

I am one of the students who play in the court and I am consistently been shoved to the ground by one of the students not watching where they are going. Firstly I reckon that they should bring a change of clothes to play there games on the field. The Netball Courts are clearly stated that it is a NETBALL COURT!!

Secondly there is a No Rugby Ball in the Courts Rule and many students are disobeying that rule. It is not fair for those who obey the rule and the courts have to be closed for the other students doing.

In conclusion I have to say that students are consistently pushed and shoved in the courts and I think that this is irresponsible behavior from the students. Maybe they should consider other peoples feelings when the courts are closed from their own doing.

Maths Reflection

In Maths this week, I learnt to have a Sense of Measurement. I learnt about length, width, depth, height, distance. For example.... centimeters- you can not measure a whole netball court with centimeters because it will take to long.
I learnt how tall I am from the activity I had done during the Maths section.

Pentecost

Pentecost is the coming of the Holy Spirit to the Disciples. A violent wind went past. All of them were speaking in different languages. They had tongues of fire on their heads, it was the sign of the Spirit.
Holy Spirit fill our hearts with love.

Maths Activity

Today like every school day I have learnt how to challenge myself to do things that I know I can do. With a time of 5 minuets and 10 seconds I have achieved a goal that I have set for myself, and will try to beat it next time.

My Highlight of my holidays.

It was in the night, on Wednesday me and my family were having a quiet conversation in our living room, eating left over Lasagna from previous night.
“So what was left from the Jelly?” my sister asked, “ Nothing” I replied. “ Why don’t we do something different tonight?” said my Dad quickly, “ We can play a game and whoever wins they win the leftover money we have and we can all play together!” Every now and then my family does something special each week.

We played Bingo, we would play for fun, but sometimes we played for money. Now it was time. “ Everyone buckle up because its time to GO!!” and then it started. It was a loooooooong game and all of a sudden I had only on number, left Number 18 “ BINGO!” my older sister yelled full of enthusiasm. All of a sudden she regretted the way she said it when my eyes filled up with tears.

My Dad came towards me looking at my numbers. “ The number 18 has already gone!” he said. I was so gutted just to know I could have won was heart-breaking for me. “Girly what were you doing?” “I don’t know!” I said and I stormed upstairs like a flying winged banshee from hell. I calmed my self down, as I was doing so I saw my sisters photograph on the wall, she was smiling but when I looked at her it looked like she was saying “ Your a loser!”. I went back to where the rest of my family was sitting.

My Dad said “ You know that the money your playing with now is your Dinner money?”, “ Oh is it?” I said bitterly. My Dad gave Gloria her money which was 5 dollars. I look at her fiercely. My Dad gave me 2 dollars to spend. At that moment I felt guilty. “ I’m Sorry” I said Apologetically “ I feel so foolish”. “It’s Okay” My sister said and she gave me a dollar.

I learnt a valuable lesson, whatever you do your family will be by your side and I will treasure that for the rest of my life!

Athletics

On Friday we had Athletics. The 5 year old children were on their way to the start of the racing line. They raced hard. Then it was the 6 year old children and so on. Finally it came the 11 year old children.

I was very nervous, because it was my turn to run. My hands were shaking. My palms were sweaty. At the end I came 3rd! I was very proud of myself. I have never come 3rd in a 200 meter race and there were so many people racing.

What an event that was! When it was the eleven year old heat I was almost dieing of exhaustion. But I was determined to come 4th or 3rd. I ran and I ran. I came third again! That was a surprise to me.

Eventually it was twelve year old race. It was a great sight! When it was going on to lunch time I ran towards my classroom. I was really hungry and I had something to eat. And after that I spent the whole lunch walking around with Elizabeth.

When lunch time was over it was time for the novelty races. When I got into to my house color I went to the center of the tarpaulin and sat there until it was the relay races. 1st it was Kiwis against Tuis. Tuis dominated Kiwis. Then it was Keas and Geckos were racing with each other. Keas won so the final battle was between Tuis and Keas, Tuis lined up quickly and I was ready to take on the world.

The Keas group was ready. First they were leading and I was confident that they were going to win. When Kelly went up she accidentally ran the WRONG WAY so Savelio ran with all his might and Kelly had to run the other way too!
So now we were in the lead.

Yeah!!! yelled the Keas. I felt gutted. But then all of a sudden Lezabelle popped her head she had not run. We had Won!! I was filled with relieve as Keas went back to their tarpaulin quietly, while the Tuis went back to their tarpaulin cheerfully.

Chant Time! Each group got a chance to sing a chant that represents what they have in store. The first group was Keas. They stumbled hard and they didn’t get to finish their chant. Next was Geckos and they did a great performance. Next it was our turn, Tuis was great but unfortunately we did not win.The Geckos came 1st then the Tuis, Kiwis and last but not least Keas.

It was really fun and it was great to experience this and I couldn’t have asked to do it with any better people.

The Astonishing Tool!

The Day had begin! I had been waiting for this day ever since last year. Miss G carefully handed the net books out and stood there waiting to give instructions. When I had opened the box uncontrollably I cooled down for a moment. I had never had my OWN mini laptop!
Miss G began to tell us to open our net book and log in. My password was going to be one that I could remember and I typed that in. It wasn't easy when you first start to do it. It logged in! That was a relieve!! Meanwhile I went to games and I played a game! Finally the fun began. The best part was the final Countdown, that was a moment I will definitely remember. It was fun and I will remember this day for the rest of my life.
